fun and viewer review
This is rare or unique for a sitcom to reference past comments and events in previous episodes. Usually episodes are treated as if they're almost separate worlds from the rest. At least with sitcoms in the 70s and 80s.

Freddie's sea-faring brother dies, so the Boswells decide it would be fitting to arrange a burial at sea. Carla Lane's comedy, starring Jean Boht and Ronald Forfar

fun and viewer review
Wow, so many memories, used to love this show! The family name of Boswell had been used in her previous Scouse-based comedy, The Liver Birds and many of the names and traits had already been established in that series. Its popularity rivalled EastEnders; attracting 21 million viewers at its peak, Bread was one of the few programmes to break the soap's stranglehold on the TV charts at the time and, indeed, could almost have been called a comic soap opera itself.

fun and viewer review
The family name of Boswell had been used in her previous Scouse-based comedy, The Liver Birds and many of the names and traits had already been established in that series. Its popularity rivalled EastEnders; attracting 21 million viewers at its peak, Bread was one of the few programmes to break the soap's stranglehold on the TV charts at the time and, indeed, could almost have been called a comic soap opera itself.

You can get box sets on amazon.co.uk But they seem to only have series 1 to 3. One set says 3 and 4 but comments on it say it's a mistake and that there's only series 3 in the set. One comment says the others don't understand which DVDs series 4 is on, so I don't know who is right. PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me - Joey's number plate on his car......is there some significance in it or is it code? only because every time he pulls away in hius car it always seems to focus on his number plate so im wondering if it's some significance to the show or something?
